Founder-led product · Permissions and access control

Rulerr

A permissions reporting and access privilege platform designed to help organisations monitor and control access across external products.

Role

Led development with Jason Rudolph.

Highlights

  • Started in September 2016.
  • Designed as a central report of access privileges across an organisation.
  • Supported one-way and two-way integration with external products.
  • Selected for the Queensland Government TWIG program in 2016.
  • Completed development in late 2017 and operated for several years.

The Problem

Organisations often do not know who has access to what across all of their systems. That creates security, governance, risk, and operational problems, especially as teams grow and software tools multiply.

The Product

Rulerr was designed as a central reporting and access privilege layer. For high-risk systems it could be used for monitoring, reporting, and alerting; for lower-quality permission systems it could support two-way sync so permissions could be changed from within Rulerr.

The product entered the Queensland Government TWIG program, giving it the opportunity to be tested and refined with government agencies.
