Engineering
I became an engineer to understand how things work. Systems, failure modes, cause and effect. That mindset never left — it just moved from machines to organisations.
People hire trajectories, not résumés. This is how the work evolved — and what changed in my thinking at each stage.
I became an engineer to understand how things work. Systems, failure modes, cause and effect. That mindset never left — it just moved from machines to organisations.
Professional sport, enterprise technology, regulated environments. Places where mistakes are public, timelines are fixed, and the gap between what leadership says and what operations can deliver is visible immediately.
Built, ran, and sold companies. Reddog. VUID. Bronze Betty. Dozens of others. I learned that most failures are human long before they are financial — someone avoids a conversation, protects identity, or waits for certainty that never arrives.
Stopped trying to run everything myself. Started working on the decisions that change companies and fortunes — acquisitions, succession, capital, partnerships, expansion. A small number of mandates at a time.
Environments with no playbook — different markets, same human patterns. Approximately seventy countries in three years, but the point is not geography. It is what you learn when process cannot save you.
A way for serious people to experience how I think before committing to a full mandate. Four conversations. First one in person, worldwide. Private advisory is how clients work with me. Bare Metal is how anyone can test the fit.
